(2011 calendar available after the 2012 calendar) Jan. 10 - Ikebana: The Art of
Japanese Floral Design. Charles Harris, president of the Chicago
Chapter of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society, will lecture on and
demonstrate this 1,000 year old Japanese art form.

Feb. 14 - Basic Care of Orchids: They're Easy!
Don White, owner of Anything Orchids, will demonstrate the ease in
growing and caring for these beautiful plants. Orchids will be available for
sale.

March 13 - The Smell of Honey. James
Belli, president of the Illinois State Beekeepers Association, will
introduce apiculture and the pivotal role bees play in horticulture. Come
see the equipment Jim uses on his 40 acre Wadsworth farm to produce his
award winning honey.
Due to a scheduling conflict, our March meeting
will be held in the Multipurpose room at the Glenview Library, 1930 Glenview
Road.

April 10 - Spot of Tea? Sheila Duda, tea
specialist and owner of TeaLula, will delve into the elegant world of
tea and lecture on the history of its cultivation. Samples will be provided
to reflect the unique qualities of tea production particular to each growing
region. Tea products will be available for sale.

May 8 - 5pm - Field Trip to Pesche's Nursery for discount on
spring purchases; sub sandwiches will be served.
June 12 - Annual 'member's only' Plant Exchange at Pamela
Frank's home. click on annual events for information.
July 10 - Field trip to The Grove for tour of Dr. John
Kennicott's home office, pharmacy + medicinal herb garden.
Aug. 14 - Gardens and Turtles and Ponds,
Oh My! Esther Palace of The North Suburban Pond and Garden
Walk will provide a program on incorporating pond and aquatic animal
systems into any backyard haven. Koi and frog filled ponds, a turtle
sanctuary, and numerous garden rooms will entice and offer tranquility in
this garden wonderland. Please meet at 7 pm at Ms. Palace’s home: 235
Greenwood Road, Glenview.

Oct. 9 - Killer Plants! Peter Chung
of The Midwest Carnivorous Plant Society will introduce us to the
strangely beautiful but deadly world of these monster plants. No longer
considered novelties, learn about their evolvement, creepy habitat and
feeding practices. Demonstrations will be given and plants will be
available for sale.

Nov. 13 - Topiaries for the Holidays.
After many years at heavy hitter, Ball Seed Company, Karen Thomson founded
Thomson Topiaries and has since been working with people and
companies in creating these living green sculptures. Topiary frames and
materials will be available for purchase.
